On-stage

Studio setting

When a 'broadcasting' company buys a TV-program, they place their order with a 'production-house'. This production team will develop the program, script wise and call in a concept-designer to create the 'theme' or 'appearance' of the show.

When the concept is worked out and planned, C.A.M. Projects realizes the building of the 'setting' or 'décor'. We have a large range of suppliers as sawmills, metal workers, electricians and so on. The assembling of the décor, the set up, as also the finishing touch are all within our services.

Stage setting

The first rule in setting scenery is, to make it intense enough so that it creates the intended atmosphere. This will contribute to enter easily into the part to play or the imagination of the people surrounded by it. As everybody's imagination is different, it should be as stereotype and with as many recognisable details as possible.

A small "mise-en-scene", which is often used in lobbies and reception areas, will be placed on it's own piece of floor to give a better image.

In all occasions the sky is the limit. What cannot be purchased, can probably be made.

Expo-stands

Click for large picture The best stands are the smallest in transport and the largest when fully set up. The design comes in three parts:
  • the full design or artistic view
  • the assembling plan and system
  • the transport packing
Again all materials can be used, but a wooden basic structure is the best (lightweight, easy to adjust and attach). In the picture you see a polystyrene wall on a wooden base connected with curtains which function as doorways to hidden storage.

Safety requirements may vary amongst exposition halls and we demand that they are verified before we start the design !!

Theme decorations

Carnival in Venice, a King's banquet or a Pirate's cave are but a few examples of what any theme feast could be like. We decorate the banquet room, the buffet, the dining tables and we even supply costumes for serving personnel. The set-up, the feast (evening), and removal can be done within 24 hours but still has to be ordered one month in advance.

Long-term "season" decorations for restaurants, bars and hotels can replace the regular decorations without disturbing any activities or passages. These kinds of decoration are often used as promotion to menu-specials, seasonal products or festivities.

Sculptures

Click for large picture When a polystyrene foam sculpture is made, we start with a 1m³ bloc, as if it was a huge stone. The 3D-figure is cut out instead of chiselled, smoothed with a filler coating and painted. When the sculpture needs to be mounted or hanged it will be reinforced to fit its position.
After treatment with special products a mould can be taken to reproduce several identical statues or to turn a large sculpture hollow to use the inside as well. Then the inside can be lit up or turned into a cupboard or storage-space. To insert a sound-system, one side is perforated to give passage to the sound waves.

The more ideas vary, the more ways there are to realise it!

Walls and stones

The ancient, time-taking artisan of stone masonry is a priceless option, that remains a cherished dream. However, still fake, polystyrene sculpted or polyester moulded walls with a "stone-like" coating are a more reasonable solution to realise a setting of castle walls, ruined houses, megalithic stones, fantasy temples and so on…

Gates, doors, windows, stairs, floors, even secret passages can be integrated and these can be combined with all other types and systems we use for setting and decorating.

Paintings

Click for large picture Compared to large measure printings, we offer paintings on tissues, boards or even plain walls for a reasonable price. These hand-painted images do take time, but we don't need the expensive high-tech machinery.

Every picture, sign or drawing can be reproduced in full colour and size doesn't even matter. We do prefer to take measures ourselves to avoid problems afterwards when the paintings are put in to place.

The big advantages, when used as decoration, the painted banners take little space to store and are very fast in placing and removal.

Parade cars

As citizens of the renowned carnival city of Aalst (Oilsjt), we also take part in the yearly parade, as a hobby of course. For each parade our group of friends build a new parade car, as also 65 other groups do. A total of more than 1.000.000 Euro is spent each year on materials and products only to keep this parade unique (all is thrown away or sold abroad afterwards).

This is where we got most of our experience and still do get some more.
